yellowthread street

Yellowthread Street was a short-lived British detective/cop/action TV series set in Hong Kong. It ran for 7 episodes in 1990. Next to impossible to find tapes but we have seen two (courtesy of AGWLBP) and liked them--and not just because Bruce was in it.  It captured an exotic balance of Eastern and Western thought--Western-style cops in an Eastern locale full of mystery and intrique. A locale where feng shui is more than just a trendy decor concept, it's a philosophical idea that carries weight and has an impact.

Bruce's character, Detective Nick Eden, was different than any other role you've seen him play. Nick's the ultimate good bad boy--insouciant, smart-mouthed, charming, roguish but still a hero.

Our copies of the episodes "Slicing the Dragon" and "I Knew a Man" are copies of copies so the quality of the photos is not as good as we would like but you can still see how utteringly, charmingly delectable Bruce was in this series.
Too bad the series didn't run longer, we'd like to have seen more of Nick.  We can only hope it is available on DVD someday. If it is, you can be sure that we will get it.

We have also obtained a copy of the TV Week article about Yellowthread Street (thanks to research by Ariel at the British Library Newspaper Archives --the British equivalent of the Library of Congress). No infringment of copyright is intended. This article is very hard to find and is provided for the benefit of Bruce Payne fans who can't get to the British Library archives!   See link below.

See our second YTS page for "Bruce Payne" in Chinese characters and other goodies...
